John Smiley joined Wolrige Mahon LLP in 1974 immediately after receiving his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1974 and has been the firm's managing partner since 1994. He received his fellowship from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 2000.
John assists owner-managed businesses with financial, tax and operating decisions as part of his audit and accounting practise. A hands-on approach is the key to John's philosophy in working directly with clients. His clients include companies and proprietorships in distributing, insurance adjusting, retail, wholesale, and manufacturing, as well as professionals and non-profit associations.
The services John offers include audit, accounting, corporate tax, personal tax, financing planning, budget preparation and assisting with the purchase and sale of businesses.
John currently is a director, Baker Tilly International; director, Sunny Hill Foundation for Children; mentor and member of the Advisory Board for the University of BC Executive Mentor Program and member Finance Committee, Capilano Golf & Country Club. He has also been active in the community through a variety of other roles including: trustee & treasurer, BC Sports Hall of Fame & Museum; director, John Howard Society, Lower Mainland Region and director, Vancouver Curling Club Ltd.
