Describe your day

I provide a range of business advisory services to secured lenders and financially distressed debtors. For secured lenders, I assess the recoverable value of problem or delinquent loans and, where a workout strategy is put in place, monitor the debtor’s progress. I also act as Receiver, Receiver-Manager or Agent to recover and realize on the lender’s behalf. For financially distressed debtors, I assist with the development and implementation of workout strategies, working in co-operation with secured lenders in an informal setting. I also assist with the development and implementation of workout strategies, designed to restructure the debtor’s financial and business operations, under formal creditor protection proceedings (the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Act or Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act).

Professional history

I was a Vice President of PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. from 1998 to 2003 and a Manager/Principal at  Coopers & Lybrand Ltd. from 1983 to 1998.  I attained my CA designation in 1979 and my CIRP/Trustee in Bankruptcy designation in 1985.

Personal philosophy

My focus is to surpass clients’ expectations and in doing so, add value for money.

Why did you choose Wolrige Mahon?

I wanted a change from large corporate operations with decisions made at Eastern-based headquarters. Wolrige Mahon is an independent, midsized firm with an excellent reputation, offering clients and the marketplace an array of professional advisory service – not just accounting, audit and tax.

Community work

I serve as a member of the Travel Industry Advisory Group, an advisory group to British Columbia’s Business Practices & Consumer Protection Authority.

Good advice

If a business opportunity or transaction just seems too good to be true, it generally is.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy coaching my daughters in softball and soccer, as well as playing hockey, golf and skiing.
